Information:
The Millencolin track “Understand” is exclusive to this record and never otherwise released. It was originally recorded by Superdong/Skümback and this version of the song was recorded live at studio Punkpalatset in 1995 (“Punk palace” in English and named in the Chiquita Chaser lyrics line “I took you to the A-house and even to the punk-palats”, where the A-house (“A-huset” in Swedish) was a bowling alley in Örebro).
As for the compilations name “Salmons of Hort” it’s the MillenWiki [Simon] staffs guess that it comes from the name of the northern Swedish city of Hortlax, where Superdong (which where erlier named “Skümback” and after Superdong formed bands Fireside and Breach) where the “Lax” part of the name “Hortlax” is Swedish for “Salmon”, hence Salmons of Hort.
Other notable bands from Hortlax is Swedish punk band Randy who amongst other records released a bunch of records on Burning Heart, namely full lengths “The Human Atom Bombs”, “Welfare Problems” and singles “I Don’t Need Love”, “Cheater” (EP), “The Heebie Jeebies” and “X-Ray Eyes”.
As for the label Ampersand Records, also based in northern Sweden (Umeå), it was founded by José Saxlund (of Umeå hardcore band Abhinanda) and Dennis Lyxzén (of Umeå hardcore bands such as Refused, Final Exit and AC4 amongst others) who later started the label “Ny Våg” releasing other punk and hardcore bands from northern Sweden such as Regulations, Randy, The Vicious and his own band Invasionen along with many others.
